Wei-Jin specialises in corporate and cross-border mergers and acquisitions (both public and private), including joint venture investments, takeover bids, schemes of arrangement, privatisations, divestments and private equity. He regularly provides general corporate, restructuring and employment advice to institutional clients, family offices and ultra-high networth individuals across various industries, having spent a few years in Hong Kong. Wei-Jin is also active in high value sports marketing work. He has recently been recognised in the 2023 edition of The Best Lawyers in Singapore for Sports Law.

His transactional deal experience includes advising:

  • International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank as Singapore counsel in IFC’s investments in India, the Middle East and Myanmar to develop infrastructure;
  • Chinese state-owned enterprises in their investments and divestments in companies listed on the Singapore Exchange and their disclosure obligations;
  • Chinese companies (listed in Singapore and/or dual listed in Singapore and Hong Kong) and their independent directors in takeover offers and delistings;
  • Hong Kong, Chinese and Malaysia companies as Singapore counsel in respect of their proposed listings on exchanges in their respective jurisdictions;
  • NV5 Global, Inc., a provider of compliance, technology, engineering and environmental consulting solutions listed on NASDAQ in its M&A activities in Singapore;
  • The LOGOS group as Singapore counsel in its Chinese logistics and warehouse assets restructuring and joint venture with KKR;
  • Xtep International Holdings Limited as Singapore counsel in relation to its joint venture with Wolverine World Wide, Inc. (both leading sportswear and footwear groups listed in Hong Kong and New York respectively) to carry out the development, marketing and distribution of footwear, apparel and accessories under the Merrell and Saucony brands in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau;
  • Hong Kong based biotechnology and healthcare company Avalon Steritech as Singapore counsel its joint venture with Japan’s SoftBank Robotics Group to develop and promote innovative public healthcare and hygiene solutions and products to fight the COVID-19 pandemic;
  • Corporates on their league and shirt sponsorships of top-tiered football clubs in the English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, Italian Serie A and French Ligue and basketball teams in the NBA;
  • An Asian family office in its joint venture investment to open F&B sports bars and licensed national sports lottery distributors in Chinese cities;
  • A high networth individual in his acquisition of a Hong Kong SFC-licensed institutional broker and joint venture investments in the brokerage, fintech and crypto space; and
  • International businesses including a Hong Kong fintech broker listed group and a New Zealand property developer in relation to their proposed HQ relocation to, and establishment of business operations in, Singapore.
